In the world of SEO Services, you may have heard the term ‘Black hat SEO’ and wondered what it meant. Well Black Hat SEO basically means the use of techniques to gain higher search rankings, but using unethical means. Some black hat methods include:-
black hat seo What is Black Hat SEO?Keyword stuffing
This involves just putting hundreds of identical and or similar keywords onto a page. This practise used to work but will nowadays just get your website penalised by the search engines. Keywords within your page text is important, but there is a right way to go about it.
Invisible text
Invisible text is similar to keyword stuffing but involves making the text colour the same as the background colour, therefore making the text invisible. This practise is designed so that although visitors cannot see the text, search engine robots can.
Doorway Pages
Doorway pages are basically fake pages that the website visitor never sees. It is purely for search engine spiders, and attempts to trick them into indexing the site higher.
Link Farms
This practise involves the linking of websites that are not relevant to each other just for the purpose to increase the websites link popularity. This sort of artificial and under the table link building is transparent, and when the search engine crawlers and bots pick it up, they will penalise you.
Strangely this ‘black hat SEO’ used to be perfectly ok to the search engines, but some people went over the top and now these techniques are frowned upon by the general SEO community at large. These black hat SEO practices can provide short term gains in rankings, but if you are discovered using these spammy techniques (and you will be) on your Web site, you will be penalised by search engines.
In short, they are an outdated and easily spotted technique that you should not go near with a barge pole. We only ever utilise fully white hat search engine approved link building and seo techniques.
